Buggles Spearwood offers long daycare and a kindergarten program for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years, with extended hours to suit busy families.

Our purpose-built daycare and kindergarten centre in Spearwood offers innovative early learning programs in a safe and nurturing environment. Our outdoor areas are strategically placed away from the street, ensuring a secure environment where children can explore and play freely. We offer three separate outdoor spaces, each thoughtfully designed to cater to different age groups. Indoors, we boast five distinct play spaces furnished with age-appropriate furniture, promoting independence and the development of self-help skills. Many educators have been with us for over five years. We are also fortunate to have 3 Bachelor-qualified teachers. These educators bring a wealth of knowledge and experience, particularly in our Kindergarten program designed to prepare children for their transition to school. We offer creative art experiences, messy play days, and outdoor obstacle courses for all ages. Children and educators regularly venture to nearby parks, and our babies enjoy pram rides around the neighbourhood. We also foster a love of reading and learning through monthly visits from the local librarian, enriching the children’s experiences and supporting their literacy development.

“As educators, it’s our responsibility to provide diverse experiences that allow children to develop their skills and knowledge at their own pace.”

I am passionate about helping children discover new things, and there’s nothing more rewarding than witnessing that lightbulb moment when it all clicks for them. Knowing what I do every day makes a real difference in their lives is incredibly fulfilling. Children are naturally curious, resilient, and full of joy. I strongly believe in the power of learning by doing. As educators, it’s our responsibility to provide diverse experiences that allow children to develop their skills and knowledge at their own pace.

Our team is rich in knowledge and experience from years of training and working with children. We take pride in sharing this expertise with families, guiding them through key transitions and milestones until their children start school. The social interactions in early childhood centres are invaluable. Children are constantly learning from their peers, observing, and absorbing everything around them.

Our team is truly exceptional – friendly, warm, and always ready to assist. Many of our educators have been with us for over five years, providing consistency and stability. We are also proud to have multiple bilingual educators who can support children by communicating in their home languages. We believe in honesty and maintaining open lines of communication with all families. Whether you need support, a quick chat, or advice on a challenging situation, we are here for you. Understanding the demands of busy mornings, we also offer a grab-and-go breakfast every day, ensuring that families have the opportunity to take care of themselves and their children.

I look forward to welcoming you into our Spearwood early education centre.

Our innovative early learning programs

At our early learning centre in Spearwood, our experienced educators and teachers continually seek innovative ways to enrich your child’s education. Guided by the Early Years Learning Framework, we offer a variety of engaging and diverse learning experiences, including:

Sustainability

Our educators incorporate recycled materials into our play and art experiences, fostering creativity while teaching children about sustainability. We recycle water from meals to care for our centre plants, promoting environmental responsibility from an early age.

Inclusion

We create a sense of belonging for your child to ensure they feel heard and empowered to make choices, fostering their independence. We celebrate each child’s unique strengths, helping them to thrive in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Music and movement

Our evidence-based Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation (RAMSR) program is designed to develop fundamental skills that help support children’s self-regulation, memory, and concentration. It is an innovative approach to holistic learning, development and well-being in early childhood.

STEM

We encourage your child to ask questions, experiment, and problem-solve, all while engaging their natural curiosity. By fostering this inquisitive mindset, we help them develop critical thinking skills and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Nursery

In our nursery room, we are privileged to support your baby through their earliest milestones. From grasping and rolling to crawling and walking, our educators plan experiences that build fine motor, gross motor and balance skills. We work closely with each family to follow the individual routine they have established, offering continuity and comfort for your child.

Up until around 14 months, your child remains in the nursery room following their personalised routine. Once they begin climbing and showing signs of readiness, we will discuss transitioning them to a toddler bed and gradually support their move into the Toddler 1 room.

Toddler 1

The educators in the Toddler 1 room are passionate about planning a range of developmentally appropriate activities to stimulate children’s fine and gross motor skills, as well as their communication and social skills. Daily experiences like singing rhymes, reading stories and playtime help children explore and learn in a safe, loving and nurturing environment.

All activities are open-ended and creative, giving children the freedom to explore and express themselves in their own way. We respect each child’s individuality and follow their unique routines and needs. We believe a thoughtful and engaging environment is key to supporting their development.

Personalised support for every child

We support each child’s learning journey through personalised Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) tailored to their interests, needs and developmental goals. Our educators build strong, trusting relationships with children, and work in partnership with families to reflect their aspirations. This helps us create meaningful and engaging learning experiences for every child.

We closely monitor children’s progress, using regular observation to identify milestones and any areas that may need extra support. If concerns arise, we carefully document our observations and communicate openly with families. With their consent, we connect with external services, such as Inclusion Support Services, to ensure every child gets the support they need to thrive.

Frequently asked questions

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.

On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.

Our Family Support Team will add your child’s name to our waitlist if one of our childcare centres is currently full in your child’s age group. We will then contact you as soon as a place becomes available.

We also do monthly check-ins to review availability, and you will receive a text message confirming whether you’re still happy to remain on the waitlist each month. If you would like an update at any point, you’re welcome to reach out on our Web Chat or give us a call.

Our Family Support Team can also help you find more G8 early learning centres near you, with the same offerings at the Buggles centre you are interested in that have immediate availability.

It’s common for a child to experience separation anxiety when they first start child care. When you’re getting ready to start child care, you can help your child overcome anxieties by visiting the child care service together for a Stay and Play session, and easing into new routines at home.

Read more tips about how to make the transition easier for your child.

Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.

For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits, spare socks and a plastic bag for wet clothes.

For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits, spare socks and a plastic bag for wet clothes.

Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.

It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.

Buggles uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Buggles is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
