Buggles Spearwood offers long day care and a kindergarten program for children aged 6 weeks to school age, conveniently located for families in Spearwood, Coogee, North Coogee, Hamilton Hill, Munster, Coolbellup, Bibra Lake, Yangebup, Beeliar and Samson.

Children can explore three separate outdoor spaces, each designed for a different age group and positioned away from the street for a secure play environment. These areas give children room to move, explore and play freely every day, with outdoor obstacle courses available across all age groups.

Indoors, five distinct rooms are furnished with age-appropriate furniture that promotes independence and the development of self-help skills. The rooms give children opportunities for creative art experiences, messy play and quieter moments suited to their age and stage throughout the day.

Many educators at Buggles Spearwood have been with the centre for over 5 years, bringing consistency and familiar relationships to children and families. We have 3 Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teachers bring a wealth of knowledge and experience across the rooms, with particular depth in the kindergarten program.
Individual Learning Plans
Individual Learning Plans are developed in partnership with families and used to guide learning around each child’s strengths, interests and goals. Educators draw on these plans to shape experiences that suit each child’s needs and stage of development.
Kindergarten and school readiness
Our Kindergarten and school readiness program is delivered by Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teachers. Children develop independence, self-help skills, emotional regulation and a sense of responsibility for their belongings – the foundational skills needed for a confident transition to school. The centre also partners with St. Jerome’s Primary School to support children through the transition process.
Community walks and library visits
Children and educators venture regularly to nearby parks, and babies enjoy pram rides around the neighbourhood. A monthly visit from the local librarian brings books and stories to the centre, giving children regular opportunities to explore reading and build early literacy skills.
Fresh meals prepared by on-site chef
Our on-site chef prepares healthy, balanced meals every day, with a four-week rotating menu tailored for Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter seasons. Menus follow Australian dietary standards and are updated regularly to reflect seasonal produce and family feedback. All dietary needs are catered for, including cultural preferences, food allergies and intolerances.

Age-appropriate early learning
0–15 months
Nursery
Our nursery educators are privileged to support babies through their earliest milestones, from grasping and rolling through to crawling and walking. Experiences are planned to build fine motor, gross motor and balance skills, and educators work closely with each family to follow the individual routine established at home.
Children remain in the nursery until around 14 months. When they begin climbing and showing signs of readiness, educators will talk with families about transitioning to a toddler bed and moving into the Toddler 1 room.
In this room, children are encouraged to:
- Develop fine motor, gross motor and balance skills through planned experiences
- Follow their individual home routine for continuity and comfort
- Build secure relationships with consistent, attentive educators
- Progress at their own pace, with transitions discussed with families when the time is right
15 months – 2 years
Toddler 1
The Toddler 1 room offers a safe, loving environment where educators plan a range of open-ended, creative experiences to stimulate fine and gross motor skills, communication and social development. Daily rhythms include singing rhymes, reading stories and playtime, giving children space to explore and express themselves freely.
Each child’s individuality is respected, and educators follow unique routines and needs to ensure every child feels seen and supported.

Toddler 2
The Toddler 2 room focuses on supporting each child’s growing personality, independence and individuality. Educators scaffold learning through sensory play and arts and crafts, encouraging curiosity and creativity while helping children develop self-help skills and emotional regulation.
Toilet learning is available in this room and actively supported by educators, helping children build confidence and prepare for the transition into the Kindergarten room.

We support each child’s learning journey through personalised Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) tailored to their interests, needs and developmental goals. Our educators build strong, trusting relationships with children, and work in partnership with families to reflect their aspirations. This helps us create meaningful and engaging learning experiences for every child.
We closely monitor children’s progress, using regular observation to identify milestones and any areas that may need extra support. If concerns arise, we carefully document our observations and communicate openly with families. With their consent, we connect with external services, such as Inclusion Support Services, to ensure every child gets the support they need to thrive.

A centre tour is a convenient way to experience the childcare centre of your choice and meet with our qualified educators at a time that is suitable for your family’s schedule. Click here to book a tour online.
On the day of the tour, you can observe practices and interactions within the centre environment. You’ll be able to see all the rooms and playgrounds, ask the team members any questions you have in mind, and get all the information you need to make the best decision for your child.
Enrolling is simple, and our Family Support Team will guide you through each step.
First, find your local centre and book a tour so you can meet the team and explore the learning environment. If the centre is the right fit and a place is available, you’ll receive an enrolment offer for your child. If a place is not currently available in your child’s age group, we can add your child to the waitlist and keep you updated.
To finalise your enrolment, you’ll complete an online enrolment form through a secure link sent by our Family Support Team. You’ll also need to provide key details and documents, including your child’s birth certificate, Medicare details, immunisation history statement and, if eligible, your Child Care Subsidy details.
Before your child’s first day, you may be invited to attend a Stay and Play session. This gives your child time to explore the centre, meet their educators, and start feeling comfortable in their new environment. Once your paperwork is complete, your child is ready to start their early learning journey with us.
Starting child care is a big milestone, and a little preparation can help your child feel more comfortable and confident.
Before your child’s first day, you can talk positively about their new centre, explain what their day might look like, and practise small routines such as packing their bag, saying goodbye, washing hands and sitting down for meals. You may also like to visit the centre with your child, meet their educators and ask our team about what to bring on the first day.
When your child starts, our educators will take the time to get to know your child’s routine, interests, comfort items and individual needs. Settling in looks different for every child, so we work closely with families to help children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
Most of our child care and early education centres offer nappies and wipes, sunscreen and hats, as well as nutritious meals prepared by our in-house cook. Some centres also provide sheets and formula, so you may not need to remember to pack them.
For nursery children, be sure to bring: nappy rash cream, dummies, bottles and teats, comfort toys or blankets, three spare outfits, spare socks and a plastic bag for wet clothes.
For toddlers and preschool or kindergarten-aged children, it’s best to bring: spare underwear, water bottle or sippy cup, sun hat, closed-toe shoes, two spare outfits, spare socks and a plastic bag for wet clothes.
Plus, anything else your individual child may need, such as breast milk, a sleeping bag, a comforter or medication.
It’s best to speak to your centre of choice for a full list of everything included.
Buggles uses Xplor Home as our family communication app. It is the best and easiest way to keep track of your child’s day.
After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.
If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Buggles is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.
Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without requiring families to provide documentation.
